Creamy Hot Cocoa
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup sugar
- pinch of salt
- 1/3 cup boiling water
- 3 1/2 cups milk
- 3/4 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup half and half cream (I just used additional milk and was plenty creamy!)
Instructions
- Combine the coca, sugar, and salt in a saucepan.
- Blend in the boiling water. Bring mixture to an easy boil while you stir.
- Simmer and stir for about 2 minutes. Watch that it doesn't scorch.
- Stir in milk and heat until very hot, but do not boil. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
- Add the cream to the mugs of cocoa to cool it to drinking temperature.
- Note: I made this again on Christmas and warmed everything up in the crockpot. It kept it warm all day. Just put the milk in the crockpot and add the hot cocoa/sugar mixture to it and warm it up. I have also found that this recipe is SUPER chocolately and you could probably add more milk and stretch it out a bit.
