Basic Bread Dough
Ingredients
- 3 cups cool water
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons yeast
- 1 stick butter, mostly melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 7 cups flour
Instructions
- In mixing bowl, combine cool water, sugar and yeast. Do not stir. Let the yeast "proof." Add the egg, melted butter and salt. Stir well. Stir in 7 cups flour.
- When the dough becomes difficult to stir, pour dough into a clean bowl that is sprayed with Pam. Cover loosely with plastic and towel. Let rise until double in size.
- Punch down dough and pour dough out onto a well-greased counter. Divide and shape into loaves. Loosely cover again and let rise again until double.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. One recipe makes 3 loaves.
