Gingerbread Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 c. molasses
- ½ c. hot water (from tap)
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 6 c. flour
- ¼ tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- ½ tsp ginger
Instructions
- Bring to a boil the shortening and molasses and then set off the heat.
- Mix together water, soda and sugar. Add the egg and vanilla together and then add to the sugar mixture.
- Pour molasses mixture into sugar mixture. Mix well (will foam).
- Combine all dry ingredients and then add dry ingredients 2 cups at a time. Mix well.
- Roll out and cut into shapes. Bake at 375 for 10 mintues. Frost.
